We are settling in in Middlebrook. The rabbits are transitioning to forage and pasture very nicely. The last litter is about ready to butcher. A slight delay in butchering due to illness and weather. Juliet and Neala are due any time now. They are both nesting and Juliet has started pulling fur. Plans are under way to make tractor growouts to fully graze growouts and increase breeding over the summer. Hoping to have them done in two weeks at which time we will breed Brigid and Neala.

I cleaned the nest boxes when their eyes opened as usual. Unfortunately a couple days later a few of Flutter's had crusted eyes. I cleaned, pulled the wooden nest boxes, and subbed empty, sanitized, plastic kitty litter buckets. All but one cleared up right away. Unfortunately one didn't do as well and we had to get medication. It is starting to improve. So soon the babies can start mingling. We got the front plastic on for when the cold wind blows, and got a shop light wi We got the last door on the hutch and the babies separated by sex. The babies are 7 weeks old. We got them all weighed for the 3rd tracking week, and photographed the potential breeders. Those breeders are posted on the "Available" page. They can be picked up next week. W008F will be our newest breeding doe as long as all goes as planed. |
